Happy New Year Everyone.

Phew we made it out of 2020 and into a new year. I don’t know about you but the holidays came and went with more shopping and less work. But now, it is time to hop back into our routine and be motivated to reach new heights this year. That’s where I want to guide you. Here are 5 things to jump start your new year.

  1. Wake up Early

Everyone knows: The early bird catches the worm! Let’s give ourselves a little more time in our 24hr work days with an early wake up call.  One very significant benefit of waking up early is reduced stress level. When you rise early, it eliminates the need to rush in the morning. You can then start your day on an optimistic note and such positivity often stays with you throughout the day. 6am may sound early but this is a perfect time to hit the gym, meditate, read a chapter of a book, or just step outside with some coffee. Take some time to mentally prepare your mind for your productive work day. It takes 2 weeks to destroy or form a habit so be patient.

  1. Have a Vision

One of my favorite things to do is create a vision board! I love a gathering of friends that includes scissors, magazines, and wine but create your own vision board. Sometimes that can be a piece of paper with a list of 5 goals or some elaborate graphic design. What ever requires you to set some time away to seriously think of what you can accomplish in one year. I know we said we had 2020 vision but now its time to step it up.

  1. Make a Pact

Have some accountability partners! Whether you make a resolution to go to the gym everyday or only one glass of wine a week, invite your friends to do it with you. I know we all love a good group message and misery loves company, when you’re feeling weak text your buddies for some motivation.

  1. New Year’s Resolution

Good ol’ New Year’s resolution… but this time we’re stickin’ to it. Make a resolution that is feasible and practical. Add it to your vision board and tell a friend. Even if you stray it’s ok to start over but don’t give up.

  1. Be Optimistic

Of course this is a great time to start over or just start! But be optimistic and don’t be hard on yourself. You might slip up or get lazy by February but find a Monday and start a new.

And my last and final tip for 2021: do not forget to drink your water.
